I’m hoping I can transfer my followers through a nifty little widget-app-thing. However, I am aware that technology does fail which is why I’m giving you lovelies a heads up!

Did You Know? Assumptions

Did You Know? Assumptions
This is a picture of my dog being adorable yet judgmental. He wants me to wake up. He knows I'm up, he hasn't assumed. He's aware.

“And if you insist on continuing to make assumptions about my character, I’ll advise you only this: assume you will always be wrong.”
Tahereh Mafi, Ignite Me

I was navigating the Internet when I saw this lovely quotation. It made me think about assumptions and how much I dislike them. I don’t mean all assumptions are horrible I just don’t appreciate those riddled with malicious intent. Continue reading “Did You Know? Assumptions”

Dear Designer People, Why Do All Boots Look the Same?

I am done. I am dooooone with boots. Every year, I get excited for finding a unique kind of boot that’s classic and beautiful. I want to look like a woman straight out of the olden days (I don’t know which year I just want it to look vintagey, DANG IT!) but without the darn laces. I don’t want to lace up my boots. Who has time to lace up their boots? I know it isn’t a waste of time but I know myself enough to not want a pair I have to lace up each time I wear them. Short boots are okay to lace up but not the incredibly long ones. Boo to that! I want beautiful classic looking boots that zip up and have beautiful looking buttons or something. Not riding boots. Not those chained boots. Not those ugly plain boots that are covered in suede. Give me something different, designers! It’s every fall now!

Am I the only one experiencing this problem?

Also, changing the color on every design for a different year does not make your design innovative. It’s lazy. Get your act together, people!

Cornmeal Pancakes

Since my husband, henceforth known as Manses, wasn’t feeling too happy about doing a crap-ton of homework, I decided to make him some cornmeal pancakes. These particular pancakes, were inspired by Manses’ passionate praise of some similar pancakes he had back in Nashville. I never tried those but I whipped these up from his description and you know what? Mine came out pretty fantastic! He was so happy, and I was obviously ecstatic!

1 1/3 cups self-rising
2/3 cup self-rising cornmeal
3 tablespoons sugar
½ tsp salt
2 eggs
1 1/3 cups milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 a small onion
Mozzarella (as much as you’d like)
Cheddar (as much as you’d like)
1/2 a green pepper
2 thick slices of ham cut into cubes

1. In a medium sized bowl, add all of your dry ingredients. Then dramatically add the eggs and calmly add the milk. Once the mixture begins to take form, kindly ask the oil to add itself to the party. Mix until all the ingredients make a beautiful looking sea of watery dough.

2. Smite your cheese and ham into small bite-sized pieces then add them to the mixture.
3. Chop up your green peppers and onions and sautee them until softened, let them cool a bit, and add them to your mixture.

4. Lightly grease your pan with butter, margarine, or oil. It’s up to you! I used vegetable oil. Cook the pancakes on a medium heat. You guys know how it goes, once the pancake has little bubbles it’s ready to flip. SO FLIP YO’ PANCAKE!
